Getting a water filter or filtration system that results in your having safe water to drink, cook with, and bathe in is not a matter of going to the local hardware store or Home Depot and picking up something off the shelf. It’s also not a matter of buying an off-the-shelf whole house water system, no matter how expensive. The fact is that to get safe water you must get a water filtering technology that is custom fit to your specific water conditions.

Chlorine has long been the chemical of choice for water saftey. Who doesn’t remember swimming in a chlorinated pool or drinking water with that funny chlorine smell? The fact is that it has saved many lives… but there is a negative side. There are secondary problems created when the chlorine actually kills those nasty little organic germs in the water. They are known as disinfection-by-products (DBPs), and they are potent carcinogens… and that’s a very bad thing.
So, the EPA has established some new standards that have required water treatment plants to either retool (a very expensive solution) or revise. The option being chosen is to replace chlorine with chloramine, which is a combination of chlorine and ammonia. Well, have you ever noticed the labels on bleach and ammonia? Well that’s because the chloramines created are a toxic nerve gas. Can you believe they really put this stuff in our water?
There are few studies about the effects of chloramine and no studies about the long term effects. Can you believe they so carelessly put this stuff in our water?
