All Natural Sources of Water Are Contaminated.
That’s a bold statement, but water is an incredibly powerful solvent and lots of different things get dissolved in it. In nature, there is no such thing as “pure” water. Something is always dissolved in it. So, the issue is not “pure” water, but “safe” water. There is actually safe and unsafe contamination. Unsafe contamination over extended periods of time leads to serious health risks including cancer, nervous system disorders, liver and kidney damage, reduced immune system function, and even birth defects.
The sources of unsafe contamination include, but are not limited to:
- acid rain
- storm water runoff
- pesticide runoff
- industrial waste
- minerals like arsenic
- bacteria, molds, and cysts
- drug residues
- agricultural runoff
- leaking septic systems and sewage pipes
- petrochemicals
